Our Team

Meet Our Team of Volunteers

Seniors Forum Canada (SFC) consists of a management team, fitness instructors, and various program coordinators.

The management team consists of members from diverse different genders and ethnic backgrounds. Their goal is to help develop, guide, and grow SFC along with arranging resources and executing programs for its members.
The fitness instructors run our five times a week virtual fitness classes.
The program coordinators lead each of their own initiatives/programs and report to the management team.
The Reducing Social Isolation Team provide support, advice, and have regular conversations with socially isolated seniors. They report to the management team.

Mohammad Asghar

Co-founder - Management Team Member

Resident of Oakville, Ontario for the last 11 years, Mohammad is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He migrated to Canada in 1975 and has worked in multinationals in Canada, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai and Pakistan.

Read More Mohammed and his wife, Riffat, have one daughter who also lives in Oakville and two sons who are working abroad. Mohammed has been a member of SFC since its inception in 2018.

Khalid Qasim

Management Team Member

Khalid Qasim is a professional engineer, MBA Ryerson University, project director at the Treasury Board Secretariat Government of Ontario, and consultant to the Toronto Transit Commission and several telecom companies. Director of the Canadian Pakistani Pashtun Community Association (CPPCA) , Ex-President Al Falah and ICNA lead for Seniors affairs.

Shahnawaz Mithani

Management Team Member

Shahnawaz Mithani is a successful businessman with a prominent presence in both New York and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Alongside his professional achievements, Mr. Mithani is a humble convert to Islam, a journey he shares with his family. Alhamdulillah.

Maj (Rtd) Syed Shahid Hussain Gilani

Management Team Member

Lives in Oakville since 2015
He is a naturalist and participates actively in social and outdoor activities, including trekking, exploring and kayaking. Has a passion to serve the community and be a positive contributor

Capt. Iftikhar Moghal

Management Team Member

Iftikhar Moghal is an experienced engineering and aviation executive with four decades of expertise. He began his career as a technical executive at Philips, a Fortune 500 company, before transitioning to the airline industry. Over the next 40 years, Mr. Moghal dedicated himself to aviation engineering and piloting Airbus and Boeing aircrafts with PIA.

Read More After retirement from PIA, he joined an airline in the Middle East to fly B-747 in Command. In his distinguished career, he served as a VVIP-cleared Captain, flying the country’s Presidents, Prime Ministers, and other dignitaries on official international trips. Additionally, he took on the role of Training Instructor and Examiner for all aircraft he commanded at PIA. Now retired and residing in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Mr. Moghal remains deeply committed to community service. His enthusiasm and energy drive his active involvement in various community initiatives.

Sardar Mohammad

Management Team Member

Sardar is a retired professor from Pakistan for 20 years who has dedicated his post-retirement years to community service in Canada. After migrating, he focused his energy on supporting the Masjid, actively participating in the administration and management of ICCM Mosque Milton.

Fitness Instructors

Aslam Syed

Certified Yoga Instructor, Sri Sri School of Yoga India

As a certified yoga instructor from the Sri Sri School of Yoga, Aslam has been conducting classes on health rejuvenation, yoga, and healthy diets over the last twenty years.

Read More He loves to travel, cook, classical dancing, and listening to ghazals. He has been promoting Medical tourism in various countries and was awarded an Excellence Award from the United States government.

Noel Bhatia

Noel is a qualified and trained yoga instructor from Sheridan College in Oakville, Canada. She has been teaching yoga for over a decade and currently conducts more than 10 sessions every week. She is a popular instructor of Yoga among senior ladies.

Read More Noel believes the following, “For seniors, yoga is more than physical exercise. It has a meditative and spiritual core and used as therapy. A regular yoga practice can promote endurance, strength, calmness, and flexibility. Yoga may ease symptoms of depression and well-being among seniors.”

Kim Harpster

Certified Yoga Instructor

Kim currently resides in Maryland, USA where she boards horses and lives at a horse farm. To learn horseback riding, she learned yoga and other fitness exercises.

Read More She has been practicing these exercises for the last 25 years and teaching for the last 15 years. Her fitness classes are a combination of chair yoga exercises with other fitness moves incorporated.

Megha Garg

Certified Fitness Professional

A certified fitness professional with sixteen years of practice and one year of experience instructing yoga to individuals of various age groups, she is certified by, "Vyasa Yoga Peeth, Rishikesh.", a recognized institute in India.

Read More She is a registered yoga teacher who has completed a 200-hour Teacher Training Programme with a Gold Medal. Specialized in Pilates, Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and other yoga styles. Currently working on "Bikram Yoga," which focuses on heat and poses. She is excited to bring my skills, experience, and talents to your institute.

Ghazala Khan

Certified Yoga Instructor

A certified yoga professional with 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training. Trained and qualified in Community Social work & Skill development, appeared in different TV shows to create awareness about a happy and meaningful life.

Read More Ghazala is passionate about giving back to society what she has gained over time. Helping people to know themselves better by taking them through different levels of mind, body and soul.

Dr. Asta Alexandra

Physical therapist from South Florida.

Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida International University. Working with several orthopedic, balance, neurological, and vestibular patients of all age groups.

An author, freelance writer, teacher, traveler, interpreter/translator, and a great volunteer, Abida received the five year volunteer award from the Immigration Minister.

Read More She previously managed a construction company after the death of her husband. She has published four books, in Urdu and English. and contributed many articles (newspapers and magazines) on different topics. She has been a member of SFC since its inception in 2018.
